Kitesurfing Fanatic

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

BBR spent a day last week with the guys from Fanatic looking at their new range of surfboards. A nice range of boards will be available from the 2011 range, in a high gloss bamboo wood finish, and also in standard white. James was invited over to the Fanatic seaside ranch on the south coast where he was able to try the 2 boards from the range that will appeal to the majority of kitesurfers.

The 6’2″ gunn shaped board performs exactly as expected from first looks. An all-rounder shape designed for the recreational surfer with competitive spirit. Single-to-double concave bottom with mid-volume rails and performance rocker give reliable and nimble performance. Nice and reactive on the turns, still usable through the chop and good sensitivity to weight placement.

The round nose 6’6″ didn’t disappoint either. A floaty thruster fun from slop to fast surf, the board is stable, but still manoeverable mainting speed an excellent fun in the small waves and chop. Mega comfy when going out through the chop and inspires confidence in the gybes.

Both great boards for different conditions and abilities, allowing kitesurfers greater choice in the surfboard range.

Many thanks to Ant and Nik Baker for their hospitality.

Competition Winners!

Monday, July 5th, 2010

Congratulations to our competition winners from the ‘Paddle Round the Pier’ event held at Brighton over the weekend. We held 2 seperate competitions alongside the guys from Kiteworld Magazine.

The ‘Pump up the Kite’ contest – who could pump up a 12.5m Flexifoil ION 5 kite in the fastest time, was won by Tom Cooper who just clenched the winning time on Sunday afternoon with a valve busting time of just 10.82 seconds, beating over 150 other competitors! Tom won a brand new Flexifoil 12.5m ION kitesurf kite, kindly donated by Flexifoil for the event.

Our other competition to win a 2 day Kitesurf course for 2 people here at our Getkiteboarding school at Bracklesham, was won by Karen from Brighton. Local kitesurfer Olivia drew Karen’s card from the entries at the shop this morning, pic below:

The Best Military Pilot

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

Our thanks to Pilot Flt Lt ****, who emailed across a photo of him with his heli and his new Best Kitesurfing equipment. Our Pilot was based abroad when we arranged delivery of his equipment to his foreign base, in order that he could make the Best use of his downtime. He’ll be flying high not only at work but also when playing! ;-)
